Cookie Policy
Last updated 2026-08-11
We set zero first-party cookies. What follows is an honest inventory of everything this site puts in your browser, plus what Amazon does on its own account once you click a product link.
What Weird Ass Stuff stores
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
weirdassstuff_analytics_consent | localStorage (not a cookie) | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the banner doesn't nag you every visit. | Until you clear it via "Cookie preferences" in the footer or your browser's site data settings |
It's stored in localStorage, never leaves your browser, and holds nothing more than the string "true" or "false".
Analytics: not live yet
Google Analytics 4 is wired in code but pointed at a placeholder measurement ID, so it does not load or set any cookie yet, even if you accept. Once a real GA4 property is connected (a pending step requiring the owner's Google login), this page will be updated with the specific cookies GA4 sets, typically _ga (2-year expiry) and_ga_<container-id> (session-state), gated the same way: only after you click Accept.
Amazon's cookies
Product links route through /go/ to Amazon.com carrying our Associates tag. Amazon sets its own cookies on amazon.com, not on this domain, so they are not readable or writable by Weird Ass Stuff, and are governed by Amazon's own cookie policy.
Cloudflare
This site is served through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare may set operational, infrastructure-level cookies for security purposes (bot mitigation, DDoS protection) on some requests; these are not used by us for tracking or advertising.
Managing your choice
Click "Cookie preferences" in the footer to clear your stored consent value and see the banner again.
